Overscheduled Days: When the Calendar Feels Like a Sprint 🗓️🏃‍♂️

Do you ever glance at your calendar and feel your shoulders tighten? Maybe your day looks like this: breakfast meeting, back-to-back work commitments, a school event, two evening gatherings, and somewhere in there, you’re supposed to eat, sleep, and breathe. Sound familiar?

It’s so easy to find ourselves in a season of overscheduling—days where we rush from one thing to the next with little room to pause. When it’s “just one more thing” over and over again, our energy runs thin, our patience starts to wobble, and we lose sight of what we truly need.

Why Do We Do It?

Sometimes it’s because we we might have FOMO - Fear of Missing Out - there’s always something exciting or important happening. Other times, it’s out of obligation. Saying "no" feels hard, even when our calendar is clearly saying, “Enough, please!” And during this time of year - holidays, back-to-school, special events - it’s like everyone is on fast-forward.

The Cost of Overscheduled Days

Being too busy for too long can leave us:

  • 💤 Exhausted. Mentally, physically, and emotionally.

  • 😕 Disconnected. From loved ones, ourselves, or what matters most.

  • 🛑 Overwhelmed. It’s hard to show up as your best self when you’re running on empty.

If you’re feeling this way, you’re not alone. Overscheduling happens to so many of us, often without even realizing it until we’re in the thick of it.

Take a Moment to Pause

Here’s your gentle reminder: it’s okay to step back. It’s okay to say “no” to one thing so you can fully enjoy another. It’s okay to just breathe.

If you’re in an overscheduled season, take a deep breath and ask yourself:

  • What can I say no to today?

  • Where can I make space for myself?

  • How am I really feeling in all this busyness?

And remember: you don’t have to navigate it alone. If you need to talk or just need someone to listen, we are here.

What Are You Noticing?

We’d love to hear from you! What have you been noticing about your own schedule lately? Are you feeling stretched thin, or have you found ways to balance it all? Share your thoughts in the comments—we’re always here to connect.

Take care of yourselves, friends. Sometimes, the most important thing on your to-do list is giving yourself permission to slow down. 💛
